I'm a Microsoft Certified Engineer with over a decade's worth of infrastructure support. The last few years has seen me work as a contractor supplying consultancy to a number of small companies in the Edinburgh area to maximise the benefits from what can be a costly initial outlay.
My most recent initiative has been investigating the emergence of cloud computing. Using a mixture of free tools and software running directly over the web, it’s been possible to eliminate expensive hardware and software purchases.
I give a brief overview of current application available through the web and how these can bring down the total cost of ownership of a desktop PC, reduce downtime and maximise availability.
